Nestled
Nestled

A small scene with great light up a creek in the Remutakas.
I was actually super lucky to be able to capture this as it is because I shot this spot the day before and only realised once I was home the slight amount of motion blur in the image. So I went out at the same time the next day and the light and the shape the water made in the foreground was the same! The water levels rise and drop often so I was very lucky to get a second chance.

The natural complexities behind the development of the shape and form of the fingerprint is observed on a much larger scale in a pool of swirling bubbles found deep in the native NZ bush.

A splashed camera is well worth capturing the shapes and wrinkles the incoming waves create while passing through channels in the coastal rock.

Foam patterns swirling in a pool resemble the structures of bark off a tree.

Gravitational Waves
Gravitational Waves

A visual representation of an invisible energy. Gravity pulls and squeezes, distorts and defines.
The ‘waves’ of compressed and expanded bubbles are created by photographing physical waves in the pool on a low angle close to the ground.

High Pressure

Layers of various densities of fluid and gas swirl and blend, creating otherworldly textures.

Believe it or not, this is a small section of literally, an enormous swirling vat of crap and muck at a wastewater plant.
My nose died to make this photo.

What great light can do to an otherwise uninteresting scene.

Log Bridge

Spotted this scene from above and scrambled down the bank on the right to reach the spot.
The swirl on the right is caused by currents from the waterfall capturing twigs and small sticks. The currents change and the swirl is no longer present.

S in the Sky
S in the Sky

An arrangement of rocks creates an S shaped channel for the incoming waves to flow through. It might just be my favourite thing when the clouds in the sky mirror the foreground.

Lightfall

Two clouds part over the Marlborough Sounds, releasing a flood of light from the late afternoon sky.

Shot over the Cook Strait from Opau Bay in the North Island, this view captures the Northernmost area of the South Island.

Moonrise

Deep into blue hour, the moon pulled above the horizon, providing just enough light for a shutter speed fast enough to capture some movement in the water between the rocks.
